Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Supervisor
Background & Purpose of the Job
Unilever is looking for a high-energy Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Supervisor to support operations at their ice cream factory located in Simcoe, Ontario. The SHE Supervisor promotes Unilever’s safety culture while supporting plant operations through ongoing coaching and education of site team members and contractors, the monitoring of the SHE management system and continuous improvement initiatives, procedures and safe operating practices. In this role, you will support the development, implementation and management of the site safety, health and environmental system to sustain regulatory compliance and to achieve continuous improvement of SHE KPI performance goals.
Who You Are & What You’ll Do
Focused and positive approach, you have experience working in a fast-paced, unionized work environment.
You have experience coordinating safety, health and environment activities including conducting required audits to insure full compliance with OHS and environmental laws, permits and Unilever framework standards.
Works with the site SHE Manager to provide consistent guidance, communication and support to management, production leaders and employees on Safety, Health and Environmental related issues including safety behavior observations, incident investigations, hazard and risk analysis.
Develops and maintains accurate statistics and reports on work related injuries, at risk behaviors, hazards and losses in order to identify trends that require corrective actions.
Working with the site SHE Manager, you conduct and document regular Safety and Environmental Audits of the facility and work processes as part of continuous improvement and to ensure compliance with safety and environmental rules, procedures and OHS regulations.
Actively engages in safety behavior observations and the investigation of accidents and incidents that occur at the site in accordance with established procedures to determine root causes and recommends corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence. This includes working with the site JH&SC as needed.
Responds to fires, inclement weather and other emergency situations, using the appropriate procedures for the safety of employees and property.
Participates on teams established to work on special Safety, Health and Environmental projects.
Demonstrated ability in the development and implementation of procedures that meet or exceed regulatory requirements including: Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, Confined Space Entry, Emergency Response, Fire Prevention, Waste Water Management, Hazardous Waste Management, Chemical Hazard Communication, Hearing Conservation, PPE and Forklift Operation. Reviews plans and machine specifications for new machinery or processes to determine if all SHE issues are properly addressed.
Works with management on creating special events and programs that help stimulate and maintain the Safety and Health interest of all employees.
Has experience and working knowledge of safety management systems and food safety.
Has a working knowledge of process safety management (PSM).

You’re a teacher: Technical resource for SHE. Provides guidance to site team particularly Stationary Engineers & Waste Treatment Operators.
You’re a change maker: Participate in establishing company-wide best practices and standards for SHE.
You’re a culture & change champion: Launch new programs for site by engaging both hourly and salary team. Drive positive SHE results by focusing on leading indicators and deliver world class SHE culture.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
At least 3 year of experience in Safety, Health and Environmental
B.S. / B.A. in safety and / or environmental science, chemical / industrial / mechanical engineering and / or other related technical discipline.
