Unilever Quality Manager in Simcoe, Ontario

Background & Purpose of the Job

As Quality Manager, you will lead and direct the Quality Culture of our Canadian Ice Cream manufacturing site.We are the sole manufacturer for all Packaged Ice Cream and Novelty brands for Unilever in Canada, including Breyers, Klondike, Magnum, Popsicle and B&J.

This position will play a key role in promoting our Quality and Food Safety programs, developing key strategic actions to reduce Consumer Complaints, mitigate Food Safety risks and create a culture of “Make it Right the First Time.”

Who You Are & What You’ll Do

Reporting to the Factory Director, you will lead the Quality Department, consisting of Quality Technicians, Food Safety Coordinator, Sanitation Supervisor, Quality Specialist and Quality Supervisor – all highly motivated for success.

You, as the Quality Manager will actively participate in the implementation of all site specific Quality and Food Safety systems, with the ability to lead and progress current Quality culture to world class.You will be an active member of the Site Leadership Team, participating in site People Forums, Safety Leadership Meetings, Strategic Site Masterplan Planning sessions and a key stakeholder in Management of Change activities.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Food Science, Engineering or related field of study).

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a plant environment with strong exposure to Quality, Consumer Safety and Environmental Management Systems

  • Fully understand and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)

  • Familiar with HACCP principals, implementation and facilitation of a strong Food Safety Program.

  • Experience with FSSC 22000 or equivalent global audit requirements essential

  • Must be able to effectively manage conflict while creating an inclusive work environment.

  • Proven Track record in People Development, coaching and influencing skills

  • Experience with dairy pasteurization equipment, concepts and regulations would be an asset.
