Unilever EHS Supervisor in Independence, Missouri
Background & Purpose of the Job
We are actively seeking a EHS (Environment Health Safety) Supervisor to join our plant operations in Independence, MO. The incumbent will primarily be responsible for facilitating the business’ safety, health and environmental strategy. This includes ensuring compliance with all relevant Unilever, Federal, State, and Local SHE policies and standards, training and development, and lending expertise to all SHE related issues within the operation. The incumbent will also be also responsible for assisting the SHE Supervisor and Site leadership Team in the development of new site initiatives around SHE efforts.
Who You Are & What You’ll Do
Provide support for the administration and implementation of key EHS programs and policies to ensure the facility’s adherence to all applicable, federal, state, and local regulations to ensure an accident, hazard free, healthy work environment.
Support the World Class Manufacturing (WCM) activities to assure At-risk-behaviors and At-risk-conditions are addressed. Monitor and track all corrective action measures to ensure they are addressed and completed in an accurate and timely manner.
Provide support to the SHE Manager to ensure site to full OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies compliance by maintaining and submitting safety, accident, environmental and industrial hygiene files and records as required. Provide support in the process of SHE Inspections and audits and track and follow up on all corrective actions.
Coordinate investigation of incidents and injuries with line managers and supervisors to ensure accurate and timely completion. Cooperate in the preparation of material and evidence for organization to use in hearings, law suits, and insurance investigations.
Under guidance of the SHE Manager, provide operational safety performance feedback on a regular basis. Support the SHE Pillar, associated sub-teams and provide support to RCAs as needed.
Support the SHE Unilever framework for site and employee safety teams. Provide support, instruction and training to line managers and supervisors in regard to SHE framework initiatives.
Aid in managing the SHE Rewards and Recognition Program.
Participate in the development of the annual site SHE budget and control fixed and variable cost
Driving the Continuous Improvement agenda using WCM as the operating framework.
Managing and eliminating SHE operational risks and hazards to ensure an accident/hazard free/ eco-friendly and cost competitive operation.
Strong Leader ---able to lead teams, influence other leaders and team members through your actions and influence.
Effective Communicator and Teacher--- Technical resource for SHE. Ability to develop training materials and effectively convey material to the learners.
Culture and Change maker--- Develop and implement best practice policies and procedures through team involvement. Facilitate and enable teams to proactively seek to improve the Safety and Environmental performance of the site.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Strong oral and written communication and effective interpersonal skills, along with the ability to communicate business results to the company and regulatory agencies (Including presentation and facilitating skills).
Flexibility with work hours depending upon business needs.
Behavior based safety experience.
Experience with Continuous Improvement (TPM, WCM Lean, and Six Sigma) within a factory or manufacturing environment.
Process Safety Management experience.
Environmental compliance experience.
